Impeachment (w/ poll)

I've been one of the people at Daily Kos holding back on an endorsement of Impeachment.  Aha, but now's the time to start talking Impeachment of Bush and Cheney!  It's not the individual crimes that matter, but the cumulative effect of an illegal pattern of activity, and the cover-up of those crimes.  Today's Doonesbury has inspired me.

Let me count the ways.

For starters, from the Doonesbury cartoon of 4/14/07:

  1. Lying, intentionally and repeatedly, without justification, in the run-up to the Iraq War, in violation of perjury laws and his fiduciary duty to faithfully execute the laws.
  1. Condoning torture at the Marines' camp in Guantanamo Bay, secret CIA camps in Poland and other Eastern European countries, and Iraqi prisons, leading to the murder or suicide of prisoners, in violation of the 8th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the Geneva Convention.
  1. Approval of illegal wiretapping of American citizens, without probable cause nor warrants, in violation of the 6th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Wait, yet there's more:

  1. Conspiring to libel and slander a former Ambassador, James Wilson, IV, and to out his covert agent wife, in violation of misprision laws and various other National Security laws.
  1. Firing U.S. Attorneys, without cause, while using non-secure, political email systems, in violation of the Presidential Records Act(s) and his duty to faithfully excecute the laws, as noted.
  1. Appointing and supporting unqualified, incompetent cronies and religious fanatics (the list is in the 1,000's, but let's start with "Brownie" and the Alumni of Regents University).
  1. Cheney, for assault with a deadly weapon.

President Bush is The Decider.  He controls his admninistration.  He must be held accountable, along with the Vice President.
